White Starches (e.g.
white bread, white rice, white tortilla wraps)
White, starchy food are what we call
refined carbs. They are made up mostly of sugar and are too easily digested,
lacking the necessary dietary fibers to slow down digestion and to release its
sugar components in small amounts. Instead, what we get is a high dose of sugar
easily converted into glucose which causes the pancreas to respond by
overproducing insulin to get rid of the glucose as fast as possible.
Despite the fact that we use glucose for
energy, too much glucose is not good because they can’t all be used at once and
will be directed to fat cells for deposit. A sudden spike in insulin will also
cause you to feel hungry even if you had just eaten which will wreck your detox
plan. This is also what happens when you’re eating simple sugars like honey or
white sugar or when you’re eating too much red meat.
Alcohol
Alcohol is a no-go during the detox, not
even half a glass or a quarter.
Drink a lot over time or a lot on a single
occasion and you will cause the pancreas to produce toxic substances that can
lead to pancreatitis which causes the blood vessels to swell and inflame. It
also causes liver inflammation and can lead to a fatty liver and cirrhosis. It
can also put you at high risk of cancer and significantly weakens your immune
system.
Give your body a break and stay away
from the stuff for seven days. And after the detox, stick to having one bottle
of beer a day or one glass of wine and you’ll be fine.
By just removing the types of food
listed above from your diet, you’re going to start feeling the difference and
notice how good you feel. You won’t have those strange hunger pangs or attacks
of cravings and your body won’t feel lethargic or heavy. You will feel more in control
instead of being a slave to your body’s urges. Chances are you’re going to want
to keep on avoiding these kinds of food even after your detox diet and be the
better for it.
