When Should You Detox
(and How Often)?
A detox is based on a very healthy diet
but also a concentrated one, the kind of diet that’s meant to give you a health
boost and to get rid of the toxins in your body fast. This calls for a lot of
vegetable juices, greens, and fruits, but not a lot of starch or gluten. What this
means is that there’s a reason it only lasts for seven days; you need your
complex carbohydrates in your long term diet. You can’t sustain our diet plan
for a month, let alone an entire year because it is meant as an interval, as a
break from your regular lifestyle. But how do we know just how often we need to
detox and when?
A good way to go for a full seven day
detox diet is once a year or at least once every nine months. This can help
shake up your metabolism at lengthy enough intervals that it is still received
by your system as a break from your usual diet or lifestyle. But more than
that, it is still important to have the basic food groups in your daily regular
diet, made up of starch, vegetables and fruits, and proteins.
If you want to use a version of the
seven day detox diet plan on a more regular basis, you can simply ditch
processed food like fast food and packaged food and opt for real, fresh food
like apples and cucumbers and pork chops that you cook yourself and maybe some
brown rice. It might seem like a small step, especially since you’ll still get
to enjoy red meat, starches, and sweeteners which are a big no-no in the detox
plan, but foregoing processed food can make a big difference on lightening the
load on your detoxifying organs long term.
Don’t forget to supplement your
healthier diet with regular exercise. Fifteen to thirty minutes of exercise to
start your day can go a long way if you do it at least five times a week. It
doesn’t really take much to be healthier, fitter, and leaner; it’s all about
the long game.
Even when you forego processed food and
you’re on a healthier diet in general, the occasional seven day detox will
still help you and give you that something extra. It will still help you lose
those last pesky pounds and shake your metabolism out of its comfort zone,
making it work extra hard to use up your stored energy. But remember, it is
best to limit the detox diet to those seven days and to do detox only once a
year or every nine months at most. That way, you can enjoy the benefits of the
detox diet completely.
