The 7 Day Detox Diet - MSG laden food (Monosodium glutamate)

MSG laden food (Monosodium glutamate)

MSG has got to be one of the worst food flavoring additives in the market and has been linked to a lot of health problems ever since it came out. Studies have shown that it has a very negative effect on our cells, causing premature cell death.
Unfortunately, it is also very effective in rounding out flavor and faking depth which is why it is used in so many packaged food such as bottled salad dressings, canned food, potato chips, instant ramen, microwave dinners, and so much more.

Red Meat

What is in red meat that makes it unwanted during a detox? The answer is not as straightforward as you think. Most studies are still divided on whether red meat is inherently bad for you or if it’s just bad for you when you eat so much of it. First, let’s take a closer look at red meat.

Red meat is the fatty kind of meat while white meat is lean. White meat like a chicken breast cutlet will have less calories than a cut of chicken thigh because of its low fat content which means that there’s less to be converted to glucose, a simple sugar that our body uses for energy. When you eat a lot of red meat, you are basically taking in too much sugar for your body to handle. And when we have too much glucose in your system, it actually raises the toxicity levels in the pancreas and kidneys. That’s why people who eat red meat are more likely to get diabetes type 2.

The key to eating red meat is moderation. Don’t eat it every day and don’t have it in portions so large that it dominates your plate. For the detox, however, it is best to give your body a break from digesting red meat and dealing with the added sugars and just stick to lean, white meat for seven days.
