At the age of
four to six months, anything that’s too solid will give your baby a hard time
which is why it is best to start with fruit or vegetable purees with an almost
soupy consistency. This makes soft fruits with a lot of water content an ideal
introduction to solid food for babies. When you reach the age of six to eight
months, you can continue with less soup-like fruit and vegetable purees.
Avocado Puree
Ingredients:
Avocado
Water or
fresh apple juice (or another fresh fruit juice)
Preparation:
Wash, peel,
and slice the avocado, slowly going around the hard seed. Measure out the
fleshy, ripe, green part of the avocado; a teaspoon or two is more than enough
when your baby is four to six months old but you can add more when he or she is
older than six months. Mash the avocado until it is very soft. You can add a
little water or fresh apple juice to make it softer to the point of being
soupy.
Does this
mean you need to buy a whole avocado just for two teaspoons of food for your
baby? Not at all. You can just set aside the right amount of avocado the next
time you’re making guacamole or tropical fruit salad. When beginning to feed
your baby solid food, it’s always better to use what you already have in the
kitchen.
