There
are additional activities you will want to research and plan to enforce
learning. One of the best things about homeschooling is that you can take the
time and energy to make sure your child understands every concept presented.
Sometimes this can take additional practice or activities to help them really
succeed in achieving learning goals.
Another
great thing about homeschooling is that you can teach your child how to apply
what they have learned to real life experiences. Traditional schools often do
not have this option. They can take occasional field trips to show children the
outside world. But as a parent focused on just one or a few children, you can
take additional time to really show your children how to apply their knowledge.
For
example, when you teach your child about counting money, you can take them to
the store and practice by purchasing items and counting the change they
receive. When you teach your child about economy, such as supply and demand,
you can take them around to different stores to show the differences in prices
of various items. These types of activities reinforce the lesson while also
allowing them to see how what they are learning applies to life. Many students
are more likely to succeed once they leave school when they have this
understanding. They are also more likely to enjoy learning if they understand
the purpose behind it.
